On 29 February we will be installing four new exercise stations in the EGYM at Laura Trott Leisure Centre

The new machines will be ready to use by Friday 2 March.

The four new stations include Butterfly, Reverse Butterfly, Torso Twist and Calf Press machines. These are in addition to the existing suite of eleven stations – giving you an even more comprehensive automated workout.

As with all our EGYM machines, you will need to be set up by a trainer the first time you use them.

If you already have an EGYM account you will not need to book an advance appointment. We will have trainers on hand to set you up when you next come for your regular EGYM workout.

If you do not have an EGYM account and would lilke to use the EGYM, you will need to book an appointment for a full induction. EGYM induction is free to existing gym members.

How the new machines will add to your fitness programme

Calf Press – Primarily works calf muscles and improves ankle flexion and strength.

Butterfly – Works pectorals and deltoids, with the triceps and biceps also engaged to stabilise the movement.

Reverse butterfly – Targets the muscles in the upper back. During a reverse fly the rhomboid muscles in the upper back and shoulder region are worked. Strong upper back muscles help balance shoulder strength and help protect the shoulders from injury

Torso Twist – This move stretches the back, chest, hips, and outer thighs. It also strengthens and stabilizes core muscles, which are vital for good form and function in day-to-day life.
